Chris Taggart at Baer Ridgway Exhibitions this monthJuxtapoz // Monday, 10 Jan 2011
Chris Taggart is definitely an artist that we would 1) like to see a timelapse done on his process, and 2) get him to install his Wilson football sculpture, "Pigberry," in our house. Taggart will be showing AWAY at San Francisco's Baer Ridgway Exhibitions this month, his first solo in SF in 5 years.
Chris has shown at many esteemed galleries, including ACE Gallery in Los Angeles, and the Yerba Buena Center For The Arts in San Francisco.
As Baer Ridgway writes, "His sculptures, drawings, photo-constructions, machines, and videos draw from often divergent inspirational directions, including natural growth systems, comedy, mass material culture, self-portraiture, the mind, and food."
As you can see below, the way Taggart creates his portraits, which are made with ink on paper, lends itself to some sort of timelapse overview or behind-the-scenes video. Incredible how he applies shapes, color, and patters together to make these portraits come to life.
