Chloe Early "Suspended" @ The Outsiders, LondonJuxtapoz // Tuesday, 01 Apr 2014
The Outsiders London are pleased to announce our debut solo exhibition with a Juxtapoz favorite and London-based artist Chloe Early. Suspended features several large-scale paintings alongside a selection of exquisite smaller works, referencing the romantic splendor of Renaissance religious art while exploring the themes of weightlessness and gravity. Andrew Telling created a wonderful companion short film for Suspended that was just released as well. . . watch that above and see some stills in the gallery above.
Chloe Early strives for a sense of wonder and transcience within her compositions, with figures seemingly suspended between a rise and a fall, striving for a heightened purpose and state of enlightenment and ecstacy. She says, "What do we worship these days? I decided that in these works I want to transcend all the background noise and elevate my figures out of the mundane and into a more celestial space, suspending them there for the viewer and for myself."
