As part of the Pacific Standard Time exhibitions, Palm Springs Art Museum will be hosting Backyard Oasis: The Swimming Pool in Southern California Photography, 1945-1982. The swimming pool rests at central point in California culture during this time period. Whether you're a fan of David Hockney's pool paintings (which we are) or have a fascination with the early days of pool skating (a la Craig Stecyk capturing Tony Alva in action), this exhibition catalogues a wide variety of photographs, capturing the swimming pool and its role in Southern California during this formative period of west coast culture.
