Back Talk with Brian Viveros

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, 21 Sep 2010

One reason you make art:

That's all I know how to do.

The last good movie you saw:

Run Bitch Run!

Something you’ve always wanted to do, but have yet to:

Favorite country or city visited:

A few words that sum up your philosophy on life:

The exercise of one’s energies, continual growth and constant change. To stop means simply to die.

Something you want the world to know about you:

I make surreal films.

Something that annoys or frustrates you about people:

When they fuckin talk over you or can't shut the fuck up when they should just shut the fuck up.

Something that concerns you:

This remake of I Spit On Your Grave, why the fuck would they do that!

Artists you admire:

Picasso, Warhol, Klimpt, Schiele, Beardsley, Frazetta, Mucha, Giger, Dali, Jordorowsky, Maya Daren, Quay Bros., and Fernando Arrabal.

Favorite quote(s):

"He'll never die, no one can kill him.”

The first record or CD you ever bought? The last album you downloaded?

First record was the StarWars soundtrack and the last album downloaded was Tame Impala.

Something you do when you’re procrastinating?

Smoke and watch surreal films or documentaries.

What is your most defining characteristic?

My Frida-style eyebrows.

What is your greatest fear?

To die in a car accident.

The moment you realized you were an ‘artist’:

The old Conan Magazines and silent horror films.

Your greatest quality:

Giving, I always like to give back and give to the homeies in need.

Something you wish you had known five years ago:

To save more money.

What do you hope to accomplish in the next five years of your life?

Bigger films, bigger pieces, bigger shows, and a BIG thanks to all of you. Keep it dirty.
