All Things Being Equal... with Hank Willis Thomas in Cape Town

Juxtapoz // Thursday, 02 Sep 2010

Considering Hank Willis Thomas (Juxtapoz #110) often incorporates aspects of African heritage and its social contrasts seen today in African American culture, it’s slightly surprising that today he opens his first solo show in Cape Town, Africa.

“I am writing from Cape Town, South Africa where my show, All Things Being Equal..., opens tonight [September 2nd].”

“This summer I was able to travel the world and see a lot of new places and things. Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Mexico were all amazing to visit and learn from. […] I was also lucky to spend some time in Maine at the Acadia Summer Arts Program. We are making major headway on the Question Bridge Project.”

Take a look at the artist’s newest work, and be sure to keep an eye out on his many shows and projects. Namely: Greater NY, P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center, on view now through October 20, Huckleberry Finn at the Wattis Institute in SF starting September 28, and Unfixed, Center for Contemporary Art, Dortrecht Holland starting October 23rd, 2010.
