You might know Aaron Young as the artist who has made some very large-scale installation and canvas work using motorcylists and live performance pieces with tire treads. The Northern California-born, NYC-based artist just opened a new exhibition, Built Tough, this past weekend at Bortolami Gallery in NYC.
Built Tough features new sculptures, paintings and silk screens from Young. Initially working from a combination of found and staged photographs, these representational works continue Young’s personal commentary on contemporary American culture and iconography.
We recently interviewed Young for a future project for Juxtapoz magazine and his recent collaborative projects. More on that in a future issue of the magazine.
Here is the work you are probably most familiar with Aaron Young:
And here is more of the new works in Built Tough.
