A Star-Studded Debut of "Become a Microscope

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, 18 Mar 2009

Why were Aaron Rose, Syd Garrison, The Date Farmers, Kanye West, Money Mark, and Lenny Mesina recently at LA’s Hammer Museum? To catch the debut of Become a Microscope – 90 Statements on Sister Corita, the innovative new short by Beautiful Losers director Aaron Rose (shown above with Lenny Mesina) with music by Money Mark and Becky Stark.

The short was also featured alongside the World Premiere of PSST! 3 and two new NASA music videos. Needles to say, the evening attracted big names eager to be the first to catch the freshest in the world of film and music.

Flux and the Hammer Museum present a quarterly screening series featuring innovative short films, music videos, features, filmmaker retrospectives and visual work from around the globe. Now in its second year, the Flux Screening Series will debut the World Premiere of PSST! 3, a collaborative new film project featuring shorts by a worldwide network of designers, directors, animators, and composers. PSST! founder and curator Bran Dougherty-Johnson was in attendance to present the films.

The evening also included the premiere of two N.A.S.A. (North America/South America) videos from its highly-anticipated new release The Spirit of Apollo: "Gifted" featuring Kayne West, Santogold and Lykke Li, directed by Three Legged Legs and "A Volta", directed by Logan in collaboration with The Date Farmers. The NASA videos were spearheaded by filmmaker Syd Garon who presented the new works along with Casey Hunt, Greg Gunn and Reza Rasoli of Three Legged Legs and Alexei Tylevich of Logan.

The night featured a screening of Become a Microscope - 90 Statements on Sister Corita, a new short film from Beautiful Losers director Aaron Rose with music by Money Mark. The 22 minute film tells the story of Sister Mary Corita, the California nun who captured the national imagination in the turbulent 60s by making art that influenced a generation of Americans.

Stay tuned for the next screening May 20th. More info at Flux.net
