The Dark Works of Ludwig Drahosch

Juxtapoz // Sunday, July 01, 2012
Wow, what a powerful, dark, twisted series of paintings by self-taught German painter, Ludwig Drahosch. Depicting scenes of torture, sex, torture and sex, naked stretching, meditation, dreams... the list goes on... the paintings feel like a trip into the psyche of a truly deranged (in a good way, we promise), and talented artist.

Super Mario 3D Chalk Art and Video

Juxtapoz // Sunday, July 01, 2012
This Sunday morning, we were trying to find something fun to show you, and we came across this little Super Mario character painted on a floor with 3D effect, and a video tutorial on how it was made and how you can do this in your mom's basement. Go for it.

We love being blown away on a Saturday morning, and the paintings of Rome, Italy and USA-based fine artist Francesca Bilfuco are full of incredible skill and unique styles, we just can't help but want to get on a plane and fly to her show in Tokyo this August.

Keith Haring Subways Drawings

Graffiti // Saturday, June 30, 2012
We finally had a chance to visit the Keith Haring exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum yesterday and were reminded for the 100th time of how prolific, and influential he was.  So, we thought we would reminisce with a few photos found on the web of Keith doodling in the subways.

Gnarly Illustrations by Scarecrowoven

Illustration // Saturday, June 30, 2012
Mysterious New York-based illustrator Scarecrowoven is a fan of gore, guts, and oozing appendages. His gnarled creatures take a cue from 'comic books, sci-fi and horror movies and all the illustration that came out of the skateboard world in the 80's.' He describes himself as an alien emissary sent to our planet 12 million seven hundred thousand years ago...

Tattoos by Miss Arianna

Tattoo // Saturday, June 30, 2012
Tattoo artist Miss Arianna is based in Rimini, Italy. In her own words, 'Traditional is my favorite tattoo style maybe 'cause it's like me: direct, clear and solid. It has a strength and a stability not easy to find in other styles… The reference points for my drawings aren't books about art. I take my inspirations from books of symbology, anatomy, ethnology, illustrations of 1700-1800 and by talking with people outside the tattoo world.'

The Work of Andrew Pommier

Juxtapoz // Friday, June 29, 2012
We had a great stop by in the office this week; Vancouver-based fine artist Andrew Pommier was in town finishing a mural at Juice's office, and he stopped by to see us at Juxtapoz and Thrasher. Pommier has really changed his style over the past few years, and his At The Time of Fear body of work from 2010 and new works from the last year have caught our eye.

Tomorrow, in the small Northern California coastal town of Bolinas, Don Ed Hardy will have an exhibition open at the Bolinas Museum, The Art of Don Ed Hardy Including, But Not Limited To. We have attended shows at the Bolinas Museum, including Barry McGee and Clare Rojas, and the curation continues to be excellent in the artistically conscious but secluded town.

Recently, Shepard Fairey and the Obey Giant team made their way over to Paris for a few projects, one was a gigantic mural, and the other was to team up with Parisian artist Mr. Andre for a special collaboration at the Levi's Champs-Élysées Flagship store. We just got a video of how the project turned out...
