Sundead by Luciano Podcaminsky

Juxtapoz // Thursday, August 02, 2012
This is pretty cool. Argentina-based artist, Luciano Podcaminsky, has created the conceptual piece, Sundead, a coffin re-imagined as a tanning bed, or vice-versa. Not only are tanning beds the most bizarre creations by humans, it happens to be even weirder that people in places like Florida and California, places that get sun, go to tanning salons. Are we wrong?

Illustrations by Shan Jiang

Juxtapoz // Thursday, August 02, 2012
We were searching for an artist with a burst of color this morning, and remembered how much we loved the work of Shanghai-based Shan Jiang when we have seen it in commercial endeavors over the years. The graphic designer, illustrator, and art director now works in London with design company Shotopop.

Marcos Saboya and Gualter Pupo's "Book Maze" @ Southbank Centre, London

Juxtapoz // Thursday, August 02, 2012
London is getting a lot of great art at the moment, so even if you don't want to see the Olympics, the great city has plenty to offer. Take Marcos Saboya and Gualter Pupo's fantastic 250,000 book maze, aMAZEme, now on display at the Southbank Centre in London. Incredibly, the work, creating with the help of volunteers, is based on a fingerprint of writer Jorge Luis Borges.

Works by Megan Diddie

Illustration // Thursday, August 02, 2012
Megan Diddie's delicately rendered pieces investigate the intimate relationship between humans and nature. Bodies interlace and intertwine with plants, insects, and one another in splendorous displays of color and texture. Diddie's works inhabit the tenuous line between life and death, growth and decay.

Alex Pardee Needs YOU to Ask HIM Questions

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, August 01, 2012
A message from the curator of our Special Halloween October 2012 issue, Alex Pardee: "So, as I announced a couple of weeks ago, I'm curating and art directing the entire upcoming Halloween issue of JUXTAPOZ magazine and I have collected a pretty rad bunch of weirdos to join me for the ride. I'm asking YOU, my invisible cyber friends who have equally made me smile, inspired me, laughed at me, supported me, and even in some cases infuriated me more than both Fantastic Four movies combined, to ask me any questions you want me to answer."

The 8-Bit Olympic Games

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, August 01, 2012
Admit it, you have a little bit of Olympic fever? We are paying attention far more than expected, and perhaps because London provides a familiar backdrop, we don't mind archery at 3AM anymore. Artists are getting into the spirit, and each Olympics that pass is a new opportunity for the creative community to apply their taste and sensibility to various sports. Flikli has produced a nice 8-bot montage of the Olympics, getting us one step closer to watching Fencing.
