Canadian artist Heather Benning, took a rural farmhouse, painted the walls, added furniture, and literally took away an entire wall of the two-story structure in order to give it the authentic dollhouse viewpoint. Benning has spent a career working with the idea of rural displacement, and this seems to be the penultimate project.

Land of the Free

Tattoo // Wednesday, July 04, 2012
O say can you see by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there; O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.... Happy 4th!!
