The Bull Fighter Paintings by Christian Gaillard

Juxtapoz // Thursday, October 23, 2014
Somewhere, Ernest Hemingway is happy. And perhaps a littly tipsy. Perhaps both. In the spirit of "The Sun Also Rises," or maybe a connection we are just making in our own heads because of the subject matter, French artist Christian Gaillard has been painting this intricate and stunning portraits of bullfighters since the 1980s.

We are big fans of Asger Carlsen who we interviewed in the January 2013 issue of the magazine. Art of the Moment: "Worn Out" by Palestinian artist Iyad Sabbah

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, October 22, 2014
A stunning work has just been producing in Gaza by artist Iyad Sabbah, documenting and preserving the destruction of the neighborhood of Shuja’iyya during the recent conflict and the now homeless community that once lived there. As DesignBoom points out, Sabbah "has set a family of clay figures wandering away from the war-torn wreckage. The models that comprise ‘worn out’ seem almost mummified, as if completely consumed by the death and devastation surrounding them."

He received his BFA in Painting from the University of Kansas and his MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design.
