In L.A.: Parra @ HVW8 Art + Design

Juxtapoz // Monday, October 08, 2012
Last week, we stopped by the opening reception of Dutch artist, Parra’s latest solo exhibition Kind Regrets. This is a stunning, clean new body of work which consists of several large paintings in Parra’s bold and vibrant signature style we love so much, as well as some smaller drawings on paper and a few new prints. Photos and More after the jump…

Bedlam in Old Vic Tunnels, London

Juxtapoz // Monday, October 08, 2012
For the thrid and final year, Lazarides Gallery in London is set to take over the Old Vic Tunnels underneath Waterloo Station with the exhibition, Bedlam. The interactive, site-specific installation coincides with the Frieze Art Fair, for what we like to call a significant, if not alternative way to see art as opposed to a big hall with booths. This you may see a rat... the show opens October 9.

Surreal Oil Paintings by Cane Dojcilovic

Juxtapoz // Monday, October 08, 2012
A fantastic series of surreal, scientific, fantasy paintings by New York City based artist Cane Dojcilovic. As part of explaining his process, Cane notes, "Million brush strokes, million graphite threads… Simplifying complicated artfulness, eliminating hollow sentimentality into synthetic void… Million thoughts, million absences of thoughts… Complicating simple yet again, fragmenting…"

Another Look at Suzannah Sinclair

Juxtapoz // Monday, October 08, 2012
Artist Suzannah Sinclair's dreamy and seductive work is largely inspired by the vintage pornography of the 60's and 70's, a time when earthy sensuality and voluptuous figures reigned supreme. By using pale washes of watercolor to allow the soft grain of her birch wood canvases to come through, Sinclair perfectly merges the visceral qualities of her medium with the nostalgic essence of her erotically-charged subject matter.

The Works of Jeanti

Juxtapoz // Monday, October 08, 2012
The artwork of Paris based Jeanti is almost as elusive and mysterious as the artist them self. Digitally illustrated, bizarre, futuristic compositions and profiles comprise a large portion of the artist's portfolio. As if set somewhere in the future, Jeanti's work is minimally abstracted, sometimes full of chaos and occasionally touched with elements of technology.

Official Video: Grizzly Bear "Yet Again" by Emily Kai Bock

Music // Sunday, October 07, 2012
In our opinion, the new Grizzly Bear LP, Shields, is one of the best of 2012, and "Yet Again" one of the best tracks on said album. The track just got a wonderful video treatment from director Emily Kai Bock, following an ice skater's serene yet imperfect routine that descends into a bit of chaos and anger. Like the song. Well done.

(Check out Printed Matter's curation of subversive art books in our new November 2012 issue).
