Pointillism by William Betts

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, August 15, 2012
We like to think that we just made up the term Photoreal Pointillism (although a tad redundant), but we love these acrylic pieces by William Betts. Instead of creating work with 19th century subject matter, Betts paints security camera footage instead. The artist has work on display at Kunstmuseum Stuttgart through October 7, 2012.

Paper Graffiti by Miriam Londono

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, August 15, 2012
Miriam Londono makes a career out of interesting paper sculptures and installation like work, but it is her paper calligraphy, and her paper graffiti, that has our attention this morning. The layering, detail, and the ability to manipulate paper is something we have not seen before.

This year's lineup, including a little conference featuring Juxtapoz, will include Ron English, Saber, Hownosm, Eine, and others.

Adam Isaac Jackson

Tattoo // Wednesday, August 15, 2012
We just got this gorgeous new preview of a piece entitled 'Noctournal' by artist and illustrator Adam Isaac Jackson. A beautiful example of a tattooed portrait, he stated that it was 'inspired by the nocturnal nature of artists and inspiration that comes at night.' Thanks Adam!!

Chainsaw Chuck

Erotica // Wednesday, August 15, 2012
Leave it to Chainsaw Chuck to greate an erotic, fetish mobile of sorts, complete with tantalizing cartoon vixens, clad in leather S&M garters, knee-high boots, ropes and chains. Chuck stays busy creating new cartoon characters, and has created a full line of surf designs and pin-up art in addition to his erotic work. Check out the Feb. issue of Hustler Magazine this year for more of his work!

Robert Longo's Perfect Gods

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, August 14, 2012
Discovery Channel kicked off this past Sunday night celebrating the start of their 25th year of Shark Week. I was curious how else sharks may have influenced culture beyond Jaws, eating Mythbusters, and of course leaping through the air in super slow motion. I was fortunate enough to come across Robert Longo, an amazing artist focusing on hyperrealism at massive scale.

Davy Evans for The xx

Music // Tuesday, August 14, 2012
As you may know, The xx are set to release a new album, Coexist, due out September 11, and as that date has been approaching, the trio is releasing some very abstract video treatments. Photographer Davy Evans is responsible for these psychedelic, petri dish type video works, and we are quite into it.

Juxtapoz @ Outside Lands 2012: Sights and Behind-the-Scenes

Music // Tuesday, August 14, 2012
Another year, another great 3-day weekend in Golden Gate Park. Once again, Juxtapoz curated the art for the annual Outside Lands Music and Art Festival in San Francisco, and this year, we really took our time to take in the festival, the people, the artists we worked with, the atmosphere, and the incredible foggy nights. Here is what we saw...

The LEGO 80th Anniversary Animated Film

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, August 14, 2012
We love how this video starts, and how 17 minutes later, we love LEGO even more than we do everyday. You have probably seen this before, a LEGO brick, but the story of the now 80-year old brand is something we should all know. Especially when animated and made by the good people of LEGO themselves.
