50/50 A Skatepark Fundraiser Auction

Over 100 celebrated artists from the art, music and skateboarding, including many from the Juxtapoz family have come together to help Project LOOP raise money for a skatepark for the kids of Taylor, Texas. LOOP students wrote letters to over 100 artists around the country to work on raw skateboard decks that will be auctioned off to raise funds. Artists include Aaron Draplin, Billy Joe Armstrong, Don Pendleton, Dennis McNett, Michael Sieben, Skinner, Travis Millard, Mel Kadel, and many more!

A message from past cover artist and Juxtapoz friend, Thomas Campbell: "This coming week. November 29, I am opening an exhibition in Tokyo at the Common Gallery. This show is mainly based around photographs from my "SLIDE YOUR BRAINS OUT" book and some other sewn ditties." Campbell also worked with Robin Kegel on a new limited edition Gato Heroi board they designed together in France called the "Blow Dart...". We don't have a picture of that, but many of Campbell's surf photos...

Amazing Pencil Works by Adonna Khare

Working with pencil is one thing, but to create large-scale, massive pencil on paper works as Adonna Khare creates is just stunning. Winner of the Art Prize 2012, Khare lives and works in Southern California, and is a member of the Drawing Center in New York. If you draw like this, it makes sense.

Brian Andrews Animates Animals with Human Skeletons

In this animation by artist Brian Andrews, animals with visible human skeletons are animated doing insect things. As our friend Skinner put it, the video is "CREEP LEVEL OMEGA." Titled Hominid, the video is an animated teaser based on the Hominid series of photo composites by the Andrews. 

Sculptures by Bruno Catalano

Bruno Catalano is a French artist whose sculptures are often missing pieces. The human figures are travelers heading towards unknown destination, lacking important pieces but still standing. It's as if someone took the Photoshop "eraser" tool to them! Mr. Catalano was born in Morocco and a lifetime as a sailor inspired him to make these intriguing sculptural works.

AEC of Interesni Kazki for Los Muros Hablan festival

Another day and yet another new mural by AEC of Interesni Kazki. The Ukrainian artist’s work has been consistency showing up all over the map over the last month. Participating this time in the Los Muros Hablan festival, AEC painted the sublime image of a semi-covered floating body with a plant coming out of the chest. Where there would normally be a flower on the plant, there is instead a heart. A hummingbird and a frog are also found there own respective places in this piece.

The finishing touch to his work is Rick's love for printing techniques, which combines his fresh illustrations with a unique vintage look.

$50,000 worth of art stolen from Montreal gallery

A recently opened gallery in Montreal (as recent as June) fell victim to a tactile art heist that is estimated to be worth up to $50,000 in losses. Sometime between November 2nd and November 4th, Station 16 was broken into where thieves took a number of painting, prints and computers. They believe the robbery to be planned as particular works were chosen off the wall by artists such as Labrona, Kevin Ledo, Scaner, Zek One, Whatisadamand Antoine Tavaglione. Fortunately, the works were insured and artists will be compensated, although they are still hoping for the recovery of the stolen art.

Krampusmas @ 63 Bluxome Street Gallery, SF

63 Bluxome Street Gallery in San Francisco will be having a group show, Krampusmas, dedicated to the Christmas demon, of over 20 Bay area artists opening December 7th and open through January 31st. The reception will be on the 7th from 7:00 - 9:00.
