An artist we cover on the site often, and one who has become a painter with an increasingly signature style and approach to the age old idiom, 'less is more,' Los Angeles-based, Calgary-born Geoff McFetridge is set to open Floating at Cooper Cole Gallery in Toronto on November 9, 2012. The exhibition will mark McFetridge's first solo exhibition in his native Canada, and will include a limited edition silk screen released in conjunction with the show.

On Saturday, November 3, 2012, CHG Circa (Corey Helford Gallery's new space) will feature La Catrina, Sylvia Ji’s new paintings of sublime Catrina beauty and her fifth solo exhibition with the gallery. Central to the paintings of La Catrina is the specter of La Calavera Catrina, an iconic deity of Mexico’s Day of the Dead celebrations, invoked by Sylvia Ji as a chromatic presence enciphered with allegory. Coinciding with the opening, Ji will release two new prints exclusive to CHG Circa, available at the opening.

Kate Mccgwire "Lure" @ All Visual Arts Gallery, London

All Visual Arts are proud to present a major solo exhibition from sculptor Kate MccGwire. The title Lure is a dual reference to the ring of feathers used by a falconer to call and command their birds, and to the siren-like call of the work itself. It evokes the combination of our fascination with the iridescent, exotic specimens on display and the desire to look closer in spite of the disquieting atmosphere they create. The exhibition opens November 23, 2012 in London.
