Mario Gonzalez Fernandez Illustration

Illustration // Friday, December 07, 2012
Gorgeous renderings, and overlay illustrations from Mario Gonzalez, an artist and illustrator with an uncanny understanding of abstracted, collaged compositions in his drawings.  Loving the repetition, cuts and absurdity in his contemporary works.

Last night, we stopped by the SCOPE Art Fair, as part of the mega Art Basel tournament of art fairs. We made that up, but it rings true. Great works all around at Scope, with some of the galleries in the Asian Art section being very strong. The Work of Chris Silver

Juxtapoz // Friday, December 07, 2012
'I found that soft wax was a wonderful way to blend tones, it softens the work and has a vague quality about it. Start off by working with pencils, spill your tea over it, wait for it to dry then work into it with soft wax. Scratching into the wax creates highlights, which you will be able to see on some parts of the hair. Wax is really fun but so messy so be prepared...'

The Naked Ant Farm

Juxtapoz // Friday, December 07, 2012
If you've ever dreamed of what an ant farm would look like if all of the ants were replaced with fully nude (with the exception of some socks) human beings, David Peterman is here to answer your prayers. He asked 100 people to populate the ant farm to create this piece and displayed the finished Ant Farm at the Seattle Erotic Art Fest in June of 2012.  If the Ant Farm had been printed full size, it would be a structure 30 ft. high and 40 ft. wide- thats a lot of naked little ants.

Photography by Magdalena Wosinska

Juxtapoz // Friday, December 07, 2012
The work of Magdalena Wosinska is portrayed in a the same manner of a visual diary, adventurous and full of life. 'She is shooting everything from stunning nudes in barren Icelandic landscapes to the gritty fringes of the Californian skate and metal scenes. Her photos capture an incredible vibrance – a kind of seventies revival – young, bare and overwhelmingly, alive.'
