Drawings and Devotional Goods by Mike Pare

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, February 20, 2013
We are enjoying the (we are just going to assume they are psychadelic-inspired) illustrations and tapestry collages of New Mexico-based artist Mike Pare. His illustrations often feature blissed-out figures, concert goers and psychadelic patterns.

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, February 20, 2013
Italian film historian Davide Turconi collected 35mm nitrate film clippings which are now part of the Davide Turconi Project. Joshua Yumibe has provided a selection of clips in the advanced stages of nitrate decomposition. Josh's book, Moving Color, is influenced by the project's account of early color films.

The Always Impressive João Ruas (aka FERAL KID)

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, February 20, 2013
We have featured the very talented João Ruas (aka Feral Kid) before on the site. The São Paulo-based visual artist has continued to impress with his dark and mysterious work and has several new sketchbook and standalone pieces.

10,000 Helmets Represent Frustration and Rage at the Italian Government

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, February 20, 2013
Complimented by an unrelated 2010 statue of a crude hand gesture, the 10,000 helmets in front of the Milan Stock Exchange represent the number of jobs lost in 2012. The public display of frustration, rage, and disappointment in the Italian government is the work of thousands of workers from all levels of industry from Architects to laborers.

Graffiti // Tuesday, February 19, 2013
The loss of graffiti artist NEKST has been felt around the world with countless (and really good) tributes and pieces in honor of the recently passed artist. Even Banksy has joined in the tributes, with a simple, understated animation on his site as you enter the main menu. Good touch.

12 Paintings by Laura Owens @ Ooga Booga #2, Los Angeles

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, February 19, 2013
Definitely a show we are going to see in person if we can, because these stunning nearly 12-foot tall pieces look grand in the new Ooga Booga #2 space in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. Ooga Booga has always been an epicenter of good art and culture in Chinatown, but this new space, especially with LA-based artist Owens' work in it, looks like it will be a great space for exhibitions in the months to come.

"Ecstasy on Bedsheets" by Diego Beyró

Erotica // Tuesday, February 19, 2013
Diego Beyró's productions are characterized by force, the impact of his images and the coexistence of the academic, craftsmanship and the use of new technologies and devices. Both in his series Orgasms, in which he painted that singular instant of ecstasy on bedsheets, and in his more experimental videos, or his digital work, we see the body as an object of thorough study.

With his new upcoming album release The Next Day on the way, we have David Bowie on the brain, and we can't help but reminisce about everything from The Labyrinth to Space Oddity. Coincidentally, accompanying this fondness for Bowie is an exhibition presenting a whole array of the musician and cultural icon's career.
