Daniel Mackie, a traditional watercolorist, bends and sways his brush in a much more fluid sense. His characters are painted in a way that morphs reality through the anatomy, and the characters stories are told through hints of tattoos that are found in his body of work.

A select group of top-notch European graffiti writers were recently selected to spend a few days in a German youth prison, painting massive walls with inmates for the project “Inside Rockenberg – Art in a Youth Prison.” The roster of artists who painted the penitentiary located close to Frankfurt, Germany, included Horfe, Ken Sortais, Roids, SatOne, Score and Fence.

Rockin' Jelly Bean x Big John for Naked & Famous Denim

Rockin Jelly Bean is a classic Japanese artist in the world of salaciousness that we have covered in the magazine over the years, most recently the Pushead-curated Halloween issue of 2009. The artist has recently teamed up with Canadian jean makers Naked & Famous and Japan's oldest denim maker Big John on a special collaboration that features Bean's work on the leather patch and labeling. A little dirty picture or two should fit nicely on your butt.

British graphic designer Richard Hollis (born London, 1934) is a seminal figure in postwar design and communication. Working consistently since the 1950s as a freelance designer, Hollis has also authored influential books on design history and theory. His practice has placed emphasis on close collaboration with those commissioning his design, including writers, editors, artists, curators and architects. An overriding concern for the effective and economic communication of the client's message has been consistent throughout his work.

A few months ago, KAWS unveiled a beautiful public Companion (Passing Through) sculpture at Philadelphia's 30th Street Station, all leading up to the Brooklyn artist's exhibition at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts that opens tomorrow, October 11. A few images of the PAFA's space have been released, showing a great juxtaposition (hey-o!) of the clean, bright lines of KAWS' canvases with the antique, classic works and structure of the PAFA building.
