Juxtapoz // Monday, July 22, 2013
Juxtapoz founder Robert Williams had a major presence all throughout Comic-Con, with a major new sculpture that was unveiled (made in collaboration with Gentle Giant Studios) that dominated the entrance into Hall E. On top of the sculpture, Robert held daily signings for a special collectible bust release, had his Mr. Bitchin' documentary screened, and was the centerpiece of a panel on the evolution of his work from comic book renegade to one of the most importrant contemporary artists in the world.

David Choe "DVDASA" Podcast w/Juxtapoz @ Comic-Con 2013

Juxtapoz // Monday, July 22, 2013
On Friday evening, at the Juxtapoz x Gentle Giant Studios booth at Comic Con, we held a special issue release signing and live podcast with David Choe and his crew. In celebration of his August 2013 cover story, we had Choe take over the booth for a special airing of his DVDASA podcast, as well as a few print releases and issues to get signed. As expected, a huge crowd came out in support of both Dave, the issue release, and probably because Asa Akira was in our booth...

Music Video: Kanye West "Black Skinhead" by Nick Knight

Music // Monday, July 22, 2013
Kanye West, regardless of how you feel about him, is definitely in tune with proper art direction and collaborative efforts. For the video for this new track, "Black Skinhead," he enlisted director Nick Knight to create an interactive, dark, menacing visual treatment that allows the viewer to slow the track, slow the motion, all the while watching a CG-Kanye with massive necklace perform. Go have some fun...

Street Art // Monday, July 22, 2013
Nychos just completed a ferocious 6-story high tiger, with its bone structure exposed and body parts severed in San Francisco. This was the first time the Vienna-based artist has painted a mural in SF and he made sure it was loud and made a lasting impression. If you would like to go see it in person, head down to Geary St. between Jones and Taylor.

Enjoy the first set of our photos from Comic-Con 2013! Including: David Choe & DVDASA signing and podcast, Robert Williams signing, screening, sculpture, and panel, the Gentle Giant x Juxtapoz booth, Alex Pardee, Skinner, and anything else that caught our eye!

Hardgrave's "paintings are about the excitement in each evolving moment in life, be it a minute or grand, and savoring it."

We're on a bug art kick even though we didn't know that was a thing until this morning. The second piece of bug art we are enjoying this morning is John Knuth's collaboration with MOCAtv using 250,000 house flies! He uses the digestive process of the fly to paint a canvas with the pigmented organic waste of the flies. Watch the video after the jump!
