An accomplished painter and installation artist, DeAndrea’s works are expressive dreamscapes developed through a personal iconography. Just in time for Halloween, we are loving this series of prints by German artist Joseph Sattler (1867-1931) that 50watts put up. Sattler was regarded as one of the leading pioneers of Art Nouveau. After an apprenticeship as a painter and gilder with his father, Joseph studied in Munich and worked as a freelance artist creating posters and other illustrations.

Michel Gondry, who has directed some of our favorite films and music videos (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep) is releasing a unique animated documentary on the life of controversial MIT professor, philosopher, linguist, anti-war activist and political firebrand Noam Chomsky.Through complex, lively conversations with Chomsky and brilliant illustrations by Gondry himself, the film reveals the life and work of the father of modern linguistics while also exploring his theories on the emergence of language.

After a successful show at The Hole in NYC earlier this year, we were excited that the surf pioneer brought his new works to Los Angeles, bringing his unique compositions of broken surf boards and decal arrangements to Known Gallery.
