We are quite sure we don't fully understand what the texts say in these illustrations of Valery Barykin, but something we do understand, and something we are fascinated by are the odd pseudo 1950's situations and poses in which the Russian artist shows the women in his works. Add the camera phones with a series of works that are highly influenced by the communist posters of former Soviet Union, and it just get weirder.

Maybe you can't make it down to Miami to see what Richard Heller Gallery has in store in their booth at Miami Project, but what you can do in the Southern California region is Heller's exhibition showcase of Firelei Baez' "Appendix to a Memory Table." The show will run through December 14, 2013, with the series of works exploring the intersection between private memory and public spaces, delving into her interest in the corporeality of history and culture. 

RIP, psychedelic poster artist, Martin Sharp

Story via ArtDaily, as we have embarked on a plane journey to Miami: Australian psychedelic artist Martin Sharp, a founder of the controversial Oz magazine who designed posters for the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan, has died aged 71. His death on Sunday, after a long struggle against emphysema, was confirmed by artist and friend Garry Shead, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Our friends at Klughaus Gallery in NYC are back at Basel! Klughaus Gallery is thrilled to be joining forces with Max Fish, DKNY and DKNY Jeans for the 2013 Max Fish Art Basel Pop-Up. To pay homage to Max Fish and NYC, Klughaus will help Max Fish re-create the bar’s legendary LES space in Miami. Klughaus artists will paint Radio Bar’s interiors and exteriors onsite including the Fish’s infamous graffiti-decorated bathrooms and interior blue and red dot patterns.
