The Surreal Drawings of Henrietta Harris

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, September 25, 2013
A quick glance the web this morning had us stopping at the works of Henrietta Harris, a New Zealand-based illustrator who has created works for the likes of Amnesty International and Vice. Her biography reads, "Henrietta has developed the timeless style that can only be achieved by having occasionally dipped one’s paintbrush accidentally in one’s coffee, but also combines tradition with less hazardous digital methods, all of which has resulted in an extensive, mutable, and memorable body of work."

This is an incredibly hypnotic piece of performance art meets new media meets digital mapping meet projection. The short film documents a live performance, captured entirely in camera."

Much to our enjoyment there were several new additions to the collection of "Photographs Rendered in Play-doh." The owner of the page takes a photograph and tries to mold it as close as they can in every kid's favorite malleable toy dough.

N.C. Winters completed a series of 100 Drawings to re-invigorate his love for drawing outside of the strictures of the deadline. While many of us would consider these sketches and studies highly polished works, Winters demonstrates his amazing abilities in this intense project. "In a way, the drawings became a sort of artistic release from my other work," said Winters upon finishing the series.

Augustine Kofie "Structurally Sound" @ White Walls, SF

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, September 24, 2013
White Walls is pleased to present Augustine Kofie’s Structurally Sound, as the artist’s third solo show with White Walls, directly following his sold-out exhibition in Paris. From our point of view, it seems as if Kofie's work becomes more and more complex, more alluring in its experimentation, and more original in its balance between fine art and architectural drawing structure. Definitely go check this one out.
