Juxtapoz // Thursday, May 30, 2013
Ai Weiwei has become the most interesting artist in the world in our eyes, with a constant outout of provocative, thought-provoking works in the face of his constant battle with the Chinese government. Currently on display during the 2013 Venice Art Biennale, Ai Weiwei has created S.A.C.R.E.D. "a six-part work composed of six iron boxes depicting scenes from the chinese artist's 81-day incarceration back in 2011."

We are enjoying Connecticut-based artist Maximilian Toth's beautiful chalkboard-style paintings this morning. His work often depicts teenage antics from joyriding in shopping carts to swimming, parties and fence hopping that are actually making us feel a bit nostalgic for those younger years...

Preview: Wendell McShine "Raccoon's Law" @ FIFTY24SF, SF

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, May 29, 2013
Trinidadian artist Wendell McShine is about to open a new show at FIFTY24SF Gallery in San Francisco, and our team at Juxtapoz Latin America just posted a preview.  "Racoon's Law" opens this Saturday June 1,  and our friend Shine sent us a few words about his inspiration for this show: "The raccoon reminds you to take a look inward in the mask holder, within a delicate balance between giving and receiving. Dramatically dusty charcoal drawings captivate a whimsical fantasy of control and freedom that endures beyond imagination. "
