Damien Hirst x Alexander McQueen "Skull Scarf" Capsule Collaboration

We were suprised that this collaboration hadn't happened before, but Damien Hirst has teamed up with the Alexander McQueen team with a special (read: will sell-out fast) collection of skull scarves. McQueen's skull scarf collection has always been one of the late-designer's iconic looks, and the look has always fit Hirst's style of art. 

Dennis Hopper's "The Lost Album" @ Royal Academy, London

"The Lost Album," a series of photographs first seen last year in Berlin, will be opening at London's Royal Academy next summer. An exhibition of over 400 photographs that were only discovered after his death in 2010, the series features portraits of iconic artists and actors from Rauschenberg and Warhol to Paul Newman.

Using his well known collage skills, the artist has created some intricate and fantastic currency collages using the dollar bill. A Benefit for Alan Forbes

On Monday, October 21st, Alan Forbes, a prolific San Francisco-based rock music poster artist, was attacked in the Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco. The attack left him with two skull fractures and damage to his right eye. As do a lot of artists, he has no insurance to cover the growing medical expenses. To help cover the medical expenses there are two benefit shows set up in San Francisco as well as other fundraisers. Each show will have silent auctions. More information after the jump...

Ah, the Holiday season is upon us, and what better to make do with the cold weather than to head to sunny Miami Beach during the first week of December? And that is what we are going to do... On Thursday, December 5th, Singapore and San Francisco-based Chandran Gallery, in association with Juxtapoz Magazine, will take over the Shore Club's private villa in Miami Beach and host a series of events and installations by artists Swoon, Monica Canilao, Jason Jägel, Geoff McFetridge, and Andrew Schoultz.

As we announced on the site this week, we have been curating a series of prints on the Art.com website, featuring works from Mario Wagner, Ferris Plock, Kelly Tunstall, and Trystan Bates. Also, our collection features one of our favorite abstract painters, and Barnstormer, Kenji Hirata. The NYC-based artist has been featured in the print magazine in the past, but in recent years, has expanded his work into multi-colored, playful abstractions. Christian Hosoi headed to the the UNIV Work Shop in Encinitas, California to work on The Hammerhead, a scaled-up replica of his famous skateboard design from the 1980s. Skate meets surf meets art. Francis Bacon's "Three Studies of Lucian Freud" goes for a minor $142.4m at Christie's

Remember, it was a set of 3. A record was set Tuesday night, when late British painter Francis Bacon's "Three Studies of Lucian Freud" was sold for a whopping $142.4 million at Christie's in NYC, breaking the world record for the most expensive piece of art ever auctioned. Bacon's previous record was $86m, but a work this intimate, painted 25 years after the two artists met, seems to have garnered a little bit more attention from the billionaire set.
