Jean Leblanc's Illustrations

Illustration // Thursday, January 02, 2014
Jean Leblanc's work draws inspiration from the Surrealist movement in an upbeat contemporary manner. These illustrations are fraught with dripping faces, pipes, optical illusions and strange chromey surfaces. These are visual mind games, a playful place to spend a little time testing your eye.

We start off the new year by taking a look at the drawings of Oakland, California-based artist, Randy Colosky. New Year Doublevision with Horyon Lee

Juxtapoz // Thursday, January 02, 2014
Horyon Lee's blurred motion, "doublevision" paintings are reminding us that as we all head back to work, school and our lives after the holidays and new year, we should keep a clear head but not forget to continually nurture an imagination.

A look back at "Ulysses" by Miles Donovan

Juxtapoz // Thursday, January 02, 2014
We first saw the Ulysses series by Miles Donovan in London back in 2012 and thought we would take a look back at the fantastic collages, a "series of images from the missing space probe Ulysses." Great collage ideas, juxtaposing images of deep space with those of both the common tourist and street scenes. Perhaps we will see some space tourists in 2014...

Digital Illustration and Collages by Luis Toledo

Juxtapoz // Thursday, January 02, 2014
Life, identity, reality, status quo, intention and purpose... From very young, Luis Toledo, or La Prisa Mata, has explored our inquisitive reality, analyzing the hidden meaning of every image, and dissecting the mystery of beauty. As a meticulous collector, he gathers illustrations, textures, and fragments to create and built his images from. I recently ran into a series of works from Toledo 'Humans', depicting the form and figure in his usual insanley intricate and detailed collage process.

New Work by Bruno9Li

Juxtapoz // Thursday, January 02, 2014
Brazilian artist Bruno Novelli, aka Bruno 9Li, is arguably one of the most dynamic creative figures in Brazil's contemporary art scene, his vibrant paintings encapsulating the opposing forces of nature and technology currently found in Brazilian society. With a mix of references that point to the pop culture of the present and the "New World" explorations of the past, Bruno 9Li's work transcends time and conventional classification.

Happy 2014! Lets get weirder...

Street Art // Wednesday, January 01, 2014
By the end of last night, everything appeared sort of like how this Laguna mural looks. There were distorted depth perceptions, visual hallucinations and overall confusion. Hope you’re feeling better than us on this first day of 2014. Happy New Years!
