Juxtapoz Blog

Ana Ferraz is a 25 year-old girl from Porto Alegre, Brazil. She is a huge underground and alternative comic book fan, which is what brought her interests into the art world. Her major interest is focused on that blurred line where illustration and fine art mix; creating figurative images and extraordinary characters, not only from cartoonists, but also from graffiti, skateboard, zine makers, punk records. She's not an artist, but she makes zines and draws a lot. She used to be an art director and illustrator for advertising agencies, but now she manages noz.art, a creative studio focused on art projects with her partner in crime Lucas Ribeiro. She also pays the bills writing about art, design, illustration, comics and music for two Brazilian magazines: Vista Skateboard Art and Void. ana@noz.art.br

The new issue of Vista magazine just reached the streets. There, I did a 12 pages article + interview with James Marshall, a.k.a. Dalek. I first got in touch with James trough this Juxtapoz network, so, it`s the right place to present it. It`s only in Portuguese, but if you want to read a Dalek interview, here`s a nice one.

Tonight, and tomorrow night, São Paulo will have the chance to watch a special project from the french group Plasticiens Volant, featuring a giant inflatable doll, made by osgemeos. The project is a theater play, and the actor is the doll itself. It will take place at a central region, called Vale do Anhangabau, a famous skateboard spot.  Saddly I`ll be in São Paulo only at Saturday morning. At least I`ll have the chance to see the Vertigem exhibition for the second time. I have a LOT of great pictures from the first one in Curitiba, 2008. I`ll post about it soon.

Check the video from the project bellow.

A few days ago, "I Sat" uploaded all the Paredes que Hablan (Talking walls) series at a vimeo channel. I posted about the Boleta episode some time ago, but now there are a few more available. I just watched Nunca`s episode, and it`s amazing. Check this episode bellow and the full series at "I SAT" channel.

Lucas and I went to Fortaleza for the first time last August. There we made some good friends. One of them is Weaver Lima, a great artist and comics lover. I posted about him here.
We visited Weaver`s atelier, and Lucas took some pictures. Some of them are featured on the last issue of Vista Skateboard Art Magazine. Check the "Visit" session of Vista bellow. (text and pictures by Lucas, art direction by Fred Chiba Chiba)
