This past Wednesday, we attended the launch party for Ron English and Chris Brown’s collaboration, a new toy series, “Dum English.” Fresh off the heels of English (featured in the May 2012 Public Art Issue) doing the cover art of Brown's 2011 LP, F.A.M.E., the two have a new collab getting attention. We stopped by the opening reception for Stanley Donwood’s latest solo exhibition, “Lost Angeles” at Subliminal Projects this past weekend. Lost Angeles will feature a new body of work where Donwood extends his poignant perception on the impact of current societal trends and behavior towards Los Angeles. His visual meditation on society envelopes viewers in a beautifully, graphic landscape of impending doom. The fluid black and white scene resonates with honesty and forewarning. We stopped by the opening reception of legendary artist Kenny Scharf’s latest solo exhibition, Hodgepodge at Honor Fraser Gallery this past weekend. For this exhibition, Scharf has created several new bodies of work that survey his particular aesthetic approaches and sensibilities.
