This past weekend we attended the private party and viewing of works by RISK at a beautiful private home in Los Angeles. “Old Habits Die Hard” consisted of large body of work, several paintings, Neon and large scale sculptures. Photos and more after the jump..

In his June 2011 Juxtapoz feature, James Franco admits to being drawn to stories about teenagers, with “Everything being heightened in that world.” There is definitelya very heightened, almost tactile immersion upon entering the long awaited Rebel installation, presented by the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art at the JF Chen Gallery. This past Wednesday, we attended the launch party for Ron English and Chris Brown’s collaboration, a new toy series, “Dum English.” Fresh off the heels of English (featured in the May 2012 Public Art Issue) doing the cover art of Brown's 2011 LP, F.A.M.E., the two have a new collab getting attention. We stopped by the opening reception for Stanley Donwood’s latest solo exhibition, “Lost Angeles” at Subliminal Projects this past weekend. Lost Angeles will feature a new body of work where Donwood extends his poignant perception on the impact of current societal trends and behavior towards Los Angeles. His visual meditation on society envelopes viewers in a beautifully, graphic landscape of impending doom. The fluid black and white scene resonates with honesty and forewarning. We stopped by the opening reception of legendary artist Kenny Scharf’s latest solo exhibition, Hodgepodge at Honor Fraser Gallery this past weekend. For this exhibition, Scharf has created several new bodies of work that survey his particular aesthetic approaches and sensibilities. The show features paintings, sculptures, a Cosmic Cavern installation, and a customized Cadillac, as well as an opening night performance by longtime collaborator, Ann Magnuson.
