Trina Calderon

Trina was born and raised in Los Angeles, though she spent years lurking in the Pacific Northwest. Today, she hangs out east of Hollywood, where she thinks the best art in LA really is - on the street. Currently the Show Producer on G4's hit show “Web Soup,” Trina is also a freelance screenwriter and fine arts journalist. She actively obsesses on the Dodgers, organic gardening, snowboarding, and making films about American Latinos and women.

My apologies.  I had to re-do this entry from Sunday - some goblins got into it and tore it apart...

The Manifest Equality art exhibit in Hollywood, CA was an incredibly inspiring and moving show of over 100 fine art pieces that worked together to open a conversation with Angelinos about equal rights.  Last Saturday night they had a closing event at the gallery featuring event organizer Apple Via and Yosi Sergant, a speaker from the Los Angeles SEIU, Robbie Conal, TV and film Producer Chris Moore, Matt Damon via video reading the Declaration of Independence (more on that here : http://thepeoplespeak.com/).  Musical guests that evening included Sea Wolf, Isaac Brock and band, Pink Enemy, and a DJ set by The Crystal Method.  I'm sad the show is down already, I went twice in the 5 days it was up.  It was a great experience to meet new people, engage in conversation about the problem of prejudice in California, and check out some real good art.  Art with a message.

"Throughout history artists have lent their creative expression to the ideas and issues that shape life in our communities, our country and our world." - www.manifestequality.com
