Murakami VERSAILLES book out now

Current

Thursday December 16, 2010

We are still trying to throw some holiday gift ideas out to you, and we are thinking the new Murakmai Versailles catalog, released at Colette, would be a good idea. Not only does Murakami's work photograph well, Versailles is one of the most amazing palaces in the world, and the internationally renowned residency of the famed Japanese artist is definitely something worth having in a historical document. Never Heard Of Yah: Serena Mitnik-Miller Studio visit

Current

Wednesday December 15, 2010

On a cold and rainy day I rode the train to the beach to see Serena Mitnik-Miller.  Serena's studio rests behind her retail store, The General Store, in the Sunset District of San Francisco.  I've always admired people who can successfully operate a business and actively pursue their creative outlet.  Serena has a great feature in the most recent December 2010 of Juxtapoz.  This is what I saw.

New works by Basco Vasko

Current

Wednesday December 15, 2010

Chilean artist Basco Vasko, featured in our August 2010 issue, just posted a collection of new works on paper, all in a mix of styles and color treatments. What is interesting about the mixing of styles is that Basco told us this summer, "I don't think it is very Chilean to mix things up. I know I said that in the past, but now I know that I don't mix things up like you would mix fruits to make juice." But he does mix his art up. More after the jump . . .
