Graffuturism just posted some great shots of walls/mural that Remi Rough x Augustine Kofie x Scott Sueme x Joker did on the Moda Hotel in in Vancouver as part of their Unintended Calculations Show at Becker Galleries. Sometimes a 4-person team can be too much, but these artists really matched well together. Finished views after the jump . . .
San Francisco-based illustrator and designer Reuben Rude will be opening Place To Place in Thinkspace Gallery's Project Room this Saturday (March 12), and we caught up with the artist with a few questions, and learned the man lives by the words of Joe Strummer. Back Talk after the jump . . .
Yes, real peanut butter, on the floor of a major museum. The 1962-piece, "Peanut Butter Platfrom," was created by Wim T. Schippers, as part of his philosophy that "in principle everything is meaningless and absurd, but is therefore worth the effort nevertheless." Peanut-butter deserves a second look. You know when you a see a video on YouTube with over 250 likes, and there is that one person that "dislikes" it? You got to wonder about that one person, and how much they understand the brilliance and visionary that was Rammellzee. This video is from 1983, at the Rhythm Lounge in Hollywood, featuring another legendary figure, Jean-Michel Basquiat. And another build-up to our Art In the Streets Issue. Video after the jump . . .
"INSIDE OUT is a large-scale participatory art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work. Everyone is challenged to use black and white photographic portraits to discover, reveal and share the untold stories and images of people around the world." This is a collaborative project between JR, the TED prize, and we, the world. Video interiew after the jump . . .
We start off Sunday with some surreal fine photography/artwork from Polish-artist, Grzanka Wojciech. The work here is from the series, "It's All In My Head." We don't know much about the artist except for this series being quite stunning, twisted, and conceptually sound. More after the jump . . .
We don't normally go for pure vandalism on the site, but we had seen pictures of the Paris' agnes b. store with huge, fire extinguisher graffiti "KID" tag on the facade and thought it was another European graffiti artist doing a collaboration on some luxury handbag. Turns out it wasn't. It was Kidult, and electronic music artist Prince 85 got Kidult in a music video doing some big tags on luxury stores. Video after the jump . . .
Back in November, we introduced WK Interact's new mural in Mexico City as part of the 100 years celebration of revolution in Mexico. Now, there is a comprehensive video interview with WK on the "Black Palace" mural, featuring the behind the scenes process on the 200 meters long piece. Video after the jump . . .
This is quite impressive, and perhaps doing interactive architecture gets a boost from 100+ year-old facade, but this is a really interesting public art performance by 1024 Architecture. Projected on the facade of former Lyrical theater the "Celestins," in Lyon, the building is deformed and figures were controlled by the audience, using a microphone and an audio analysis algorythm. Paul Insect, a Juxtapoz cover artist from May 2007, just dropped us a quick line about a piece he just did in London with Sweet Toof that comes with a video. All we can say is that it moves with you. Literally. Video after the jump . . .
