Feature: A conversation with Kyle Ranson
Imagine some anime character charging his ki as waves of plasma vaporize everything in a fifty foot radius. Throw in a Post-Impressionist sensibility and few cues from underground comics and you'll have Kyle Ranson's explosive brand of portraiture. Since his arrival in the 1990s, this former East Coaster has made himself, and his work, right at home in the Bay Area. We recently sat down to chat about volcanoes, embryonic goo, and R. Crumb.

FIN: A Film by CR Stecyk III
CR Stecyk III, one of our founders and a legendary photographer, writer, and historian of all things art and culture, just finished a new film, FIN, set to be premiered at Hurley's H Space in Orange County on February 8, 2012. Casey Pugh and editor Aaron Valdez, with sound designer Bryan Pugh directed this crowdsourced art project recreating George Lucas' Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope. They broke down the movie in 15-second segments, inviting fans and artists to recreate scenes in any style they desired.
