Kate Bonner wrote me recently to introduce me to her work. She describes her work and process:
"My paintings and drawings are simple fantasies about identity. The subjects are drawn from life or personal photograph, adopted as symbols and re-branded to participate in new narratives. I am inspired by pale colors, flesh tones, secrets, fiction and spin."
What I noticed first was Kate's perfectly scratchy lines. Then her palette. I'm into it for sure. You can purchase these limited prints (which were produced on an arts residency in Borsec, Romania) on her etsy site. Please check out more of Kate's work on her flickr page.
