Songbirdwashboard

From the looks of his shop Dolan Geiman has been pretty, pretty, pretttaay busy over the past few months. His etsy shop is filled to the brims with his signature wood pieces. Dolan's Spring Collection is made of, but not limited to: driftwood, old cola boxes, and screen printed woodpeckers. That sounds like the perfect way to start Spring to me. Here are a bunch of my favorite pieces. Act quick as some have already sold since yesterday!

Damionmural

The folks from Corduroy Boutique, a fantastic surf and skate gallery in Portland, Maine sent down some pics of their most recent show, Mediumship, new work by Damion Silver. I love the look of that mural for sure! See more images online.

Reader Suzanne Walsh got in touch last week to share her work with me, which she describes as an aesthetic blending of historical references and whimsical sentiments. Her choice of medium? Pyrography. What pray tell is that you ask? Well, let's let Suzanne tell us a bit about this medium and her ideas behind her work:

"Pyrography is a term I found when looking for a way to properly describe "wood burning kit from the local craft store." The kit is comprised of a soldering iron and funky pieces of "wood cookies." I love the idea of putting funny contemporary vignettes on a piece of wood with a tool that an artist generally would use to render hunting scenes."

I think I can say, with much assurance that I do too. Plus, who doesn't like to burn things?

Automaticoverdrive

This is exactly the show to open April with, Marco Zamora and Derek Albeck's work together and separately have just enough color to ease the soul. I love the direction that color and rainbows are going lately. It's no longer straight forward (thank god). Zamora and Albeck mix it up individually. This looks like it's going to be a really tight, crisp show. Opening at Fecal Face Dot Gallery, April 1, 2010 at 6 pm. Be there with your happy pants on.

Burymyheart

New websites are always so exciting. New look. New work. NEW! Miss Lizzy Stewart recently updated her website, About Today. Personally I couldn't be more excited. She's added lots of very new work to peruse and there was much to choose from. It's hard to pick favorites with Lizzy's work but her drawings inspired by Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee are up there for sure. I always enjoy when an artist takes on something culturally significant and spins it as they see it. If you see something you like make sure to stop by her etsy shop as you may find be lucky and find it there.
