Rambo and Headbands

 When I was growing up I wanted to be Rambo. I think it had a lot to do with the desire to walk around with my shirt off and to have all the lumpy muscle bits akin to all of the superhero/masters of the universe types.  The headband was definitely appealing, though it's interesting how Rambo's has evolved from the camp Flashdance style of the 80's (above) into the new Roger Federer dirty version (top). The new film should actually have Rambo playing the final of the US Open against Federer with a racquet/crossbow contraption that he could fire at the umpire when he doesn't agree with the line calls. On the topic of headbands, Ralph Macchio had a ridiculous headband. It kind of has an IKEA catalogue influence.  Chuck (who is fighting for everyone who can't fight back - including non headband wearers) didn't really wear one - except when blatantly pretending to be Rambo. Chuck Norris is one of the only bearded action stars - and I think this is ultimately what kept him from reaching true B-grade action hero status. He looks kind of like a Sesame Street character.  Now this Arnie headband truly rules. It's got cool 80's studs on it. It also has a special part at the front, that not only gives extra protection to his forehead but also to remind him that he is wearing a headband. His hairy diapers don't look very hygienic though - but it doesn't matter because the headband makes up for it all.  If you are thinking about becoming an action hero, you should seriously consider the headband.
