Jillian Mackintosh enjoys the independent creative life in San Francisco. She travels around the city streets on her sea foam green bicycle to artists studios, exhibits and receptions, fueled by French pressed coffee and noodles from her favorite Tenderloin Thai restaurant. When she is not scribbling fine words onto paper, about upcoming artists exhibiting at The Shooting Gallery, White Walls and Gallery Three, you can find her curating exhibits of her own at 666 Gallery.

Seth Neefus reminds me of charming mountain man. He’s a folksy kind of guy most often seen with a guitar in one hand, brushes and pencils in the other. He began as a graphic designer for Grenade Snowboards but was looking for a different outlet when he began drawing and painting. Seven years later his art is on gallery walls and perpetually evolving.

“Sometimes I feel creating art is like a dance that carries through the night and into the morning or even days on end with no control. Other times I feel as though I have just opened my eyes for the first time and a world is created right before me of peacefulness and harmony between man and nature. In both cases I am left with more of an understanding of life and how amazing it is to be aware of how little I am in so many ways.”- Seth Neefus

The Catharine Clark Gallery has a new exhibit titled "Remix" with an excellent piece titled "Man in the Mirror" of Michael Jackson. This piece was planned to be in the show months before Michael's death and pays tribute to the of the once King of Pop. Made with rhinestones and acrylic on panel this piece takes up the whole front wall (96 x 73 inches).

The artist, Mickalene Thomas must have some serious bedazzling experience. Thousands of sparkling  rhinestones form the characteristics of the young Michael.

The other day I made a bike route to visit my favorite San Francisco Galleries. I thought it would be a cool thing to share since this city is a bitch and a half to figure out when it comes to one-way streets, bike lanes and those gigantic hills.

Tonight is the opening of "Until The Whistle Blows" new work by Mike Maxwell and Paul Chatem. They've been installing all week, greasing the wheels for their second show together at The Shooting Gallery. Maxwell's installation was caught in action as well as Paul Chatem demonstrating his interactive woodwork pieces. Check it out.

Becca started putting up wheat pastes in Richmond, Virginia twenty years ago. Today you might see some one her innocent girls holding a firecracker outside Melrose, LA or most recently the alleys of San Francisco. Tonight she opens a solo show at White Walls with 49 new paintings, where they promise it won't get painted over.
