Juxtapoz is proud to present the release of the newest addition to our ongoing book series with 'Juxtapoz Psychedelic'.  In collaboration with The Well in Los Angeles, we will be hosting a very exciting book release and exhibition next Saturday, April 26th from 7pm-12am to celebrate the psychedelic genre.

Ketut Kusuma was born in Indonesia, 1990. He is a self-taught graphic artist who began drawing at an early age. He started to exhibit his works internationally at the age of 19. Despite his young age and autodidactic background,his works show a kinship with the works of classical masters, blended with a modern contemporary aesthetic. Featuring mostly women as his subject, Kusuma portrays transcendent feelings of solemnity, innocence and decadence.

'Recently, I began working on a series of animal paintings based on photos that I'd taken at zoos or museums. These are combined with a combination of collage material to invoke of feeling of old circus ads, weathered billboards, collage, etc. I enjoy the contrast between illusionistic painting techniques and the flattening effect of two dimensional design elements.This tension created between these two different ideas is something that I've explored in my work for a long time, and can be seen in most of my work.'
