SATONE Gives 5 Minutes of His Time
German artist Rafael Gerlach, aka SATONE, as profiled in our June issue on newsstands now, is an illustrator and self-employed artist living and working in Munich who originally hails from Venezuela. The skilled graphic designer discovered his interest in graffiti early on, intently developing his style by finding a formal vocabulary that perpetrated a fascinating middle course between technocracy and the artwork of imaginary worlds.
Dave Kinsey "Lost For Words" @ Fecal Face Dot Gallery, SF
We haven't seen Dave Kinsey in San Francisco in over a decade, and tomorrow night, May 18, Kinsey will open Lost For Words at Fecal Face Dot Gallery, Kinsey's first exhibition in SF since 2000. The new works are mixed-media, evolving upon Kinsey's abstract forms around figurative faces.
UTAH & ETHER In Hong Kong Video
Oink Art Ltd just released another video documenting the globetrotting graffiti duo, Utah and Ether, who are featured in our current June 2012 #137 issue. This time the couple are exploring the streets of Hong Kong and testing locals to see how much they can get away with. Watch as they confuse random pedestrians, many stopping to watch and others telling them to stop.
The Chewing Gum Sculpture
This is the true meaning of collaboration, even if it is a little disgusting. Two art schools in the Netherlands, Eindhovense School and SintLucas, collaborated on a chewing gum sculpture (already chewed) that seems to resemble some sort of victory, glory, and/or triumph. Weird, our rival high school used to just thrown milk bombs at us during the football games.
Preview: Cope2 "Resilient" @ Dorian Grey, NYC
NYC graffiti artist Cope2 is set to open a new exhibition, Resilient, at Dorian Grey Gallery in NYC tonight, May 17. The exhibition will feature new, abstract paintings and custom subway signs, with his signature "bubble letters" that we have come to know interwoven in more abstract arrangments.
Preview: Travis Millard and Michael Krueger @ Double Break, San Diego
Opening this Friday evening, May 18th, between 6 and 10 pm is Travis Millard and Michael Krueger's two person show titled Digging a Hole, Looking for Something. The show will feature new drawings, prints, ceramics as well as exclusive t-shirts and zines from both of the artists (only available at Double Break for this exhibition).
The Minutely Detailed Works of Paul Noble
One of the best pure drawers we can think of is Britain's Paul Noble, an award-winning artist with works in the collections of MoMA and the Tate. Noble was one of five founding members of City Racing, an influential artists' space in London during the late 1980s, and has been shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2012.

Everyone has their goals, and apparently, Qzina Specialty Foods has the goal of making the world's largest chocolate sculpture. And when we say largest, we are talking 18,239 pounds of chocolate. The structure of the Mayan temple is an ode to the ancient civilizations role in the history of chocolate.

More Murals Get the Buff in Los Angeles
A delayed mural ordinance is creating confusion and frustration amongst artists, and building owners in Los Angeles. A recent wall painted by Zes, Push, Chris Brand, and Evan Skrederstu was painted over to serve as a backdrop for a production company, while another wall painted by Sand, Vyal, and Cope2 was buffed out by orders of the LAPD saying it was illegal to have a mural or graffiti piece on their property.
