'If you don't like this book you don't like me.': Paul Thek @ The Modern Institute, Glasgow
Paul Thek, an artist who has been widely exhibited in the past couple decades, is often most notably recognized for his 1964 exhibition Technological Reliquaries, often referred to glibly as his "meat pieces" that consisted of varying sculptures resembling flesh. The current show of his work at the Modern Institute in Glasgow (on view until June 2nd) displays a select thirty-five notebooks following this successful exhibition.

Monterrey, Mexico-based fine artist, Rene Almanza, who has shown extensively in San Francisco in recent years, will be showcasing 1001 ink drawings, all measuring 15 cm x 15 cm, at Gerrish Fine Art in London this June 19, 2012. Almanza is currently residing in London, preparing his enormous new body of work.

Jimmy Zombie is an artist with a unique individual style creating iconic imagery for the music, arts and fashion industries. His signature way of drawing is reminiscent of psychedelic posters from the 70's with their soft merging edges and separated color palettes. He has done work for many clients including Converse, Barcelona Fashion Week, The Guardian, Wired, Faber, Sony, Universal Music, LWL.

San Francisco was on the art beat this weekend with 3 different art fairs to attend, and Friday afternoon we made our way to artMRKT, the most internationally represented fair of the trio. From Park Life, to LeBasee, to Daniel Horowitz' fantastic collection of collage and drawings at Muriel Guepin's booth, this year's showing was also SF's most eclectic.

Jeremy Fish, the 2x cover artist of Juxtapoz (most recently in October 2011), just released a brand new print today via Upper Playground, titled The Golden Hills. Printed with the fantastic Bloom Press of Oakland, California, the print is a signed and numbered edition of 100, 4-color screen print on Domtar Cougar 100# Cover paper.
JR mural on the High Line in New York
Working on his continuous Inside Out Project wheatpaste photographer, JR, over the weekend acquired some prime real estate on the High Line in New York City. A popular tourist attraction, the High Line was once an abandoned section of the New York Central Railroad that was recycled into an urban park spawning huge real estate development in the area.
Skating with Shadows: "Peter Brings the Shadow to Life"
A beautifully shot skate video, with the title taken from a line in an essay about Peter Pan, Joe Pease has created an alternate reality by focusing on the shadow as opposed to the person skating. After awhile, it becomes like a symphony of shapes and movement. The Nick Cave helps.
Femme Fatales by Beijing's Mu Lei
We love a good bit of noir in the morning, and we came across a whole series of femme fatales from Beijing-based fine artist, Mu Lei. A great use of a simple palette, with a piercing stare and vivid red lip makes these a stunning series.
