Juxtapoz x Ace Hotel Palm Springs x Sage Vaughn Mural

August 13, 2012

After our long weekend curating the art for Outside Lands Music and Art Festival in SF, we are really excited to be kicking off our next project in the California desert. We are very pleased to announce our collaboration with the Ace Hotel, kicking off a mural program this Friday—Saturday, August 17 and 18th, at the Ace in Palm Springs and a new mural painted by Los Angeles-based fine artist, and recent MOCA exhibiting artist, Sage Vaughn. Obviously, more things to announce this week, but we just wanted you in Southern California and the desert to get ready to hang out with Sage and the Juxtapoz team this weekend. Big thanks to the Ace Hotel and 42 Below.

We prefer the way that the Ace Hotel puts it:

We're excited to launch our inaugural Communion with Juxtapoz and 42 Below wherein Sage Vaughn creates a new mural on the big Commune wall. Visionary souls gather in the desert as this urgent work of expression is done. Curated DJs and bands sway the dearly beloved while we break bread, ponder and delight in life.

Sage Vaughn is an LA-based artist from Oregon who works with paint, textiles and collage. He recently had a solo exhibition at Known Gallery in LA. He's been known to paint pictures of birds and we're very fond of his work.

Juxtapoz is the bible of underground art. Born out of the San Francisco street art scene, it's been an unblinking beacon of creative freedom outside the city walls of the art establishment since '94.

42 Below makes very good vodka from 100% Australasian Wheat and AA-rated volcanic spring water.
