Artist Deuce 7 began his rail-riding days at an early age as a method of getting his work out beyond his native Minneapolis homeland.   His work, usually very colorful and fluid, incorporates many aspects of railroad culture.  He gained public attention and notoriety a couple years back when he painted the Williamsburg Bridge plaque in New York City numerous times.  His monikers and paintings can be seen on numerous freight trains across the country, as well as gallery shows from time to time. I stopped by his dark studio based in the heart of one of Oakland’s most crime-ridden areas to take the following photos.
