Emerging Artist: Scott Everingham
Wednesday May 21, 2008

Scott Everingham’s mysterious figures, void of any features or defining characteristics, appear wrapped in strands of multi-colored ribbon, exploring an unknown and confusing environment. A finely painted background coupled with the thick brush strokes Everingham uses for his subject matter lend themselves beautifully to a deep and cohesive piece, like this painting, Reconstructions V (oil on panel 40”x30”.)

Looks like we’re not the only ones picking up on Everingham’s budding talent, as he was chosen as one of eighty-two best emerging artists in his native Canada, is represented by three galleries (La Petite Mort Gallery in Ottawa, Snap Gallery in Vancouver, and LandymoreKeith Contemporary Art in Toronto) and is starting to exhibit his work internationally.
Everingham graduated from NSCAD University in 2004 and has since relocated to LA, working with artist Nathan Redwood for an internship during the completion of his MFA. Something tells us we’ll be seeing more of Everingham’s work in the future.
