Back Talk with Patent Pending

They prefer working side-by-side in their respective bubbles rather than crossing paths on design concepts, leading to a particular bipolar quality to their works.
The following is an excerpt from the Juxtapoz Poster Art book that was recently released:
“When we decide to collaborate, we try to do it in oddball ways. As just one example: Built To Spill played three night in a row, so we did three posters, one for each night. We each did a night and had our printer mix up the films to make up a third night without showing us what he was going to do. Jesse and I didn’t have a clue what each other’s posters looked like, or what the printer did, until the prints came back.”
Read on to discover Jesse LeDoux and Jeff Kleinsmith’s answers to our Back Talk below.
Jesse: Pulverized inside out!
If you could wake up in a different place tomorrow morning, where would it be and what would you do?
Jesse: It would have the initials R&R and I would do as little as possible.
If you lost your creative skill, how would you see yourself making a living?
Jesse: Does Ice Cream Taster require creative skill?
Jesse: You know who you are…
Was your first kiss worth writing a song about?
Jesse: If the song is anything like the kiss, it’s a total failure.
At what point were you particularly happy?
Jesse: See #7.
Jesse: My sincerest apologies to Lou Barlow for requesting Iron Maiden covers throughout his acoustic set, and when his set was finished, taking the stage and showing him how it’s done.
What trait do your friends have in common?
Jesse: THEY ARE ALL AWESOME!
If you had to evacuate your home or studio, what's the one thing you would grab?
Jesse: My dear wife.
Jesse: My dear wife.
What is your favorite vice?
Jesse: An ice cream cone is really hard to pass up, but perhaps that’s too mamby-pamby to be considered a vice. In which case, bourbon is sure enjoyable.
When you blow out the birthday candles, what do you wish for?
Jesse: People to be kind to me.
If you could play a character from a favorite film or TV show for a day, who would it be?
Jesse: Easy. Marty McFly: Back to the Future II (or part 3) = hoverboard
Jesse: This is a trick question.
Do you think viewers understand the intent of your work?
Jesse: Intent is only important to me. I’m happy if viewers are able to find something meaningful to them in my work.
What virtue can you do without?
Jesse: I have a problem with full disclosure. I need to learn to shut up.
Jesse: I’m moderately able to turn off the swear words. “Like,” on the other hand, is my true nemesis.
What has been your proudest moment?
Jesse: Life is just a series of small proud moments.
What would you like to be remembered for?
Jesse: …all those little proud moments.
How would you prefer to die?
Jesse: Vanishing.
