Bristol Based Mr Jago—a pioneer of the doodle, founder member of Scrawl Collective and a veteran in the street art movement—takes a moment to answer Back Talk.

 

How do you feel right now? 

 

In need of a haircut.

 

If you could wake up in a different place tomorrow morning, where would it be and what would you do?

 

The Galapagos Islands. I’d join in with the Limas.

 

If you lost your creative skill, how would you see yourself making a living?

 

Uphill gardening.

If you could punch one living contemporary artist, who would it be?

 

I’m going to change punch to kiss and say Miss Van.

 

Was your first kiss worth writing a song about?

 

Yes. The first verse would tell of our chasing one another around the garden pond   before lip contact. put that in your r’n’b pipe ‘n’ vocode it  Akon!

 

At what point were you particularly happy?

 

When I realized what I was doing as a career wasn’t just a job.

No regrets allowed, but there must have been one?

 

Not having the confidence to get on with it all sooner.

 

What trait do your friends have in common?

 

We are all “good ones”

 

If you had to evacuate your home or studio, what's the one thing you would grab?

 

Studio: My painting bucket. [ I love that thing ]. home : my swapped artworks.

Greatest love of your life?

 

Flora & Fauna

 

What is your favorite vice?

 

Wednesday beer club.

 

When you blow out the birthday candles, what do you wish for?

 

Chromed forearms

If you could play a character from a favorite film or TV show for a day, who would it be?

 

Captain Zapp Brannigan of Futurama. What a hero.

 

Do you ever lie?

 

Not since my swashbuckling days with Oliver Reed.

 

Do you think viewers understand the intent of your work?

 

Yes without a shadow of a doubt. I’m not sure.

What virtue can you do without?

 

None of ‘em.

 

Do you even notice when you're swearing?

 

I save it for when I mean it, so yes.

 

What has been your proudest moment?

 

Having my mum and my friends there at my Stolen Space show last year felt pretty good.

 

What would you like to be remembered for?

 

Being one of the good ones.

 

How would you prefer to die?

 

Strafed by a Messerschmitt at my 95th birthday picnic.
