Video Interview: Louie Cordero on Sacred Bones
Wednesday June 30, 2010 |
![]() Manila based artist Louie Cordero (Juxtapoz #97), who recently wrapped up his solo exhibition Sacred Bones at Jonathan LeVine Gallery last month, is featured in a new artist profile video. He discusses the inspiration and meaning behind his intricate and, at times, violent imagery. “When I was a kid, I was raised watching too many horror films,” he states.
“I don’t know where it’s coming, so it’s just like ravaging through lots of imagery, magazines, and second hand stuff, second hand sculpture. Because in Manila, that’s how we live…we get from this, get from this. So in this show Sacred Bones I have a fixation with how to create a picture that is very sacred and mystical.”
