Monday April 04, 2011 |
![]() There is the 35,000 pound yellow teddy bear in the room. Artist Urs Fischer created the 23-foot tall, bronze teddy bear slumped under a black lamp back in 2005-6, is currently being "assembled in the plaza of the architecturally acclaimed Seagram Building skyscraper on Park Avenue" in NYC. It is set for auciton at Christe's on May 11. The estimate is that Fischer's teddy bear sculpture, titled Untitled (Lamp/Bear) and based on his own personal yellow teddy bear, could get at least $9m at auction. According to ArtDaily, Brett Gorvy, Christie's deputy chairman for Post-War and Contemporary Art, described Fischer as the Jeff Koons of his generation. Only nicer. He didn't say that, we said that.
