The Victorian Inspired Work of Dan Hillier

We have been huge fans of London-based artist Dan Hillier for quite some time, as we found his work to be an ornate, illustrative universe of Victorian era with a twist of Eyes Wide Shut regal nature. And, even better, the illustrations and prints are all just a bit creepy and dark.

Hillier, profiled in our new October 2011 issue, tells us, "The kind of art that I like, whether it’s painted, drawn, printed, sculpted or whatever, is work that stops me and puts me under its spell and lingers on a while afterwards, and I hope my pictures have this sort of effect on people too. Some people just find them creepy and weird."
