The Peanut-Butter Platform
Monday March 07, 2011 |
![]() Yes, real peanut butter, on the floor of a major museum. The 1962-piece, "Peanut Butter Platfrom," was created by Wim T. Schippers, as part of his philosophy that "in principle everything is meaningless and absurd, but is therefore worth the effort nevertheless." Peanut-butter deserves a second look. "Peanut-Butter Platform" was acquired by the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and one of the beset part of the exhibit is that because viewers tend to have a polarizing response to the piece, in this case, peanut on the floor of a museum, "museum visitors can record a video (called: ‘Peanut-Butter Post’) with a question for Wim T. Schippers. Schippers will answer selected questions via a webcam, and these questions and answers will be screened in the gallery as well as on ArtTube." (ArtDaily) Interesting stuff. And if you like peanut butter, even more absurd.
