Artists who surf have a unique, symbiotic relationship with nature—gaining inspiration from the wind and waves, and in turn representing these forces through artistic expression.
Surf Story, a beautiful 440 page coffee table book, compiled by Rob Havassy is filled with expressive art and stories from 88 of the most inspirational and creative surfers throughout the world. With an intro by Jux curator (and surfer) Greg Escalante, articles by C.R. Stecyk and Art Brewer, and art from Juxtapoz favorites like Michael Knowlton, Kevin Ancell and Sandow Birk, Surf Story is a homage to the creativity and passion that surround the sport and beloved pastime of surfing. Today, December 18th at 6pm there is a book release event and art exhibition at the new Hurly HQ “Town Hall” in Costa Mesa. Should be a fun party.
