Today is the day we have been eagerly awaiting: the grand opening of Robert Williams' solo show at Tony Shafrazi Gallery in New York City. Robert has gone above and beyond with this one, proving once again why he owns the title “Godfather of Lowbrow.”

Conceptual Realism: In the Service of the Hypothetical
will open its doors tonight, Saturday, October 31st, 2009 at  6pm for a reception with the artist in attendance. The show will feature new paintings, drawings, and sculptures by Robert Williams.

Accompanying the show will be Conceptual Realism: In the Service of the Hypothetical, a catalog accompanying Robert Williams’ Fall 2009 solo exhibition. The show will continue on in 2010 to galleries in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and elsewhere. The book features approximately 25 new paintings, complete with essays on each piece by the artist, insights into the process behind each painting (including sketches, underpaintings, etc.), and many other surprises, including an introduction by painter, tattoo artist and international tattoo cultural advocate Don Ed Hardy.

Conceptual Realism opens October 31, 2009, and will remain on view through January 23, 2010.
