"New Brow" Hits Austin for SXSW
Tuesday February 17, 2009

New Brow
, the documentary feature film presented by Humble Pictures in association with the Shooting Gallery and The Alternative Café, is coming to Austin, TX, March 20th and 21st, 2009.
Despite being turned away by the acceptance committee for SXSW, New Brow and coinciding artwork will still be shown to a Texan audience, as Shooting Gallery curator Justin Giarla has put together a comprehensive body of work from artists interviewed in the film. The exhibit will run for a week, as a tribute to those who’ve made contributions to the Low Brow art movement.
602 West Seventh St. Suite A will be busy night and day through out the week of March 15th, with a private press preview, opening reception, and film screening of, New Brow, which exposes first hand accounts from artists, galleries, and collectors who initiated and maintained the “New American Art Movement.” Documenting the personal studios and makeshift gallery spaces where the movement began, it reveals the raw nature required for a new genre to be created.
Artists in the coinciding exhibit include: Eric Joyner, Charles Krafft, Shawn Barber, Travis Louie, Anthony Ausgang, Ron English, Mike Giant, Isabel Samaras, Camille Rose Garcia, Van Arno, Shepard Fairey, Liz McGrath, Henry Lewis, Tim Biskup, Gary Baseman, Glenn Barr, Kill Pixie, Niagara, Sas & Colin Christian, Erik Foss, Yumiko Kayukawa, Natalia Fabia, Paul Chatem, Sylvia Ji, Helen Garber, Joshua Petker, Mike Maxwell, Greg Gossel, and Francesco LoCastro. Y’know, just the best and brightest artists of the Movement.
Learn more on the film by watching the trailers below and then meet us in Austin for some art and film, and (of course) a few drinks. For dates and times check www.shootinggallerysf.com
